About the opportunity
The Head of Internal Audit position will manage a team of audit professionals to provide technically credible and highly respected audit coverage, that will consider all areas of governance, risk and controls within the Australia & New Zealand market unit. In addition to this, the role will focus on:

Providing independent and objective assurance to Senior Management, the Board and the Audit Committee on the effectiveness of Bupa’s risk management, control and governance processes.
Assisting Bupa in achieving its strategic goals by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the evaluation and improvement of these processes.
Undertaking special project work, or line responsibilities in emergencies, as agreed by the Audit Committee, Senior Management or Director of Internal Audit, ANZ
To be responsible for producing and overseeing work that challenges senior management to make continual improvements to the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Develop six monthly rolling risk-based internal audit plans consistent with the Global Internal Audit risk assessment and planning process.
Lead the delivery of the ANZ internal audit plan, including reviewing and approving audit deliverables, and guiding the team in audit execution as required to ensure consistent quality is delivered.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with respect to the Internal Audit methodology
Build trust with key stakeholders through holding regular meetings and communicating the IA strategy and activities to key stakeholder
Prepare quality reports/ presentations on internal audit activity to A&NZ stakeholders and the relevant audit committees
Attend steering groups, committees and work groups where required to stay abreast of emerging risks and issues facing the business
Provide leadership and coaching to the Internal Audit team, actively driving teaming and staff development

Your background
To be successful in this role you will also possess the following experience:

Professional qualifications (CIA, CA, ICAA, CPA, CIMA, PIIA etc)
Appropriate Professional associations & memberships
Significant and diverse audit experience (including internal audit), leading a team of assurance professionals
Sound knowledge of risk management and audit principles and an understanding of audit methods and techniques
Project assurance experience in a Financial Services (APRA or PHIAC) regulatory environment
Strong communication, influencing and report writing skills. Confidence in liaising with people at all levels
Demonstrable experience in the health care industry (health insurance, provisioning services, clinical care)
Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identifying the most appropriate
Strong interest in and a good understanding of Bupa and its various activities and businesses
